A peek inside.

A little preparation goes a long way

One of the biggest misconceptions about smoke cleansing is that it's complicated. It isn't. You don't need expensive tools, elaborate ceremonies or a perfectly memorised ritual. In fact, all you really need is a sage bundle, a safe place to burn it and a few quiet moments without interruption.

Confidence comes with practice

Like learning any new skill, smoke cleansing becomes easier each time you do it. You'll discover how long your favourite bundle likes to burn. You'll recognise when the ember needs a little more air. You'll learn how much smoke feels comfortable in your home. Before long, these small adjustments become second nature. There is no need to rush. Experience is the best teacher.

Choosing a safe burning vessel

A safe container is one of the most important tools you will use when burning sage. As the bundle smoulders, it can release hot ash, tiny sparks and glowing pieces of dried leaf. These may fall without warning, particularly when you move the bundle or gently fan the smoke. Your container has two jobs: Catch falling ash and embers. Provide a safe place to rest or extinguish the sage. It does not need to be expensive or ceremonial. It simply needs to be stable, heat resistant and large enough to hold the burning end of your bundle safely.

Follow local fire restrictions and product safety directions. Smoke cleansing is a personal practice; avoid smoke around anyone who may be sensitive to it.
